From CARE packages to climate resilience.
CARE’s history with Brazil dates back to 1953, when the country, along with other Latin American nations, sent CARE Packages™ to Europe as part of post-World War II recovery.
Since 2001, CARE has been working in Brazil, focusing on defeating poverty. We collaborate with national partners and have achieved women’s economic justice, gender equality and climate justice for over 2,200 people.

Climate Resilience
With a significant portion of the world’s forests, Brazil is home to around 20 million people living in extreme poverty who could face severe impacts from climate change.
CARE collaborated with state governments to create policies connecting poverty alleviation and climate change mitigation. We assisted communities in setting up sustainable forest management and reforestation on land reform settlements.
Additionally, we aided state governments in evaluating the effectiveness of initiatives aimed at reducing deforestation.
